Planning a Finland Trip from India: Costs, Visa, Flights & Itinerary
How Much Does a Finland Trip Cost From India?
For most Indian travellers, a Finland Northern Lights trip breaks into three parts: the land package, international flights and the Schengen visa. Our land packages start from about €1,350 per person (roughly ₹1.2–1.3 lakh) for a 7-day Lapland tour including accommodation, the Helsinki–Lapland night train, all listed safaris, breakfasts and a dedicated guide. Return flights from Delhi or Mumbai typically add ₹55,000–₹90,000 depending on season and how early you book, and the Schengen visa fee plus insurance is a few thousand rupees more.
Do Indians Need a Visa for Finland?
Yes — Indian passport holders need a Type C Schengen visa to visit Finland. The core requirements are a valid passport, confirmed flights and hotels, travel insurance covering at least €30,000, six months of bank statements showing sufficient funds, and proof of employment or business. We make this easier with a document checklist and an official invitation letter from our Finnish DMC, and we offer an optional visa support service where a specialist drafts your cover letter and reviews your file before submission. Flights From India to Finland
There is no direct flight, but there are convenient one-stop connections to Helsinki from Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru and Hyderabad via hubs such as Doha (Qatar Airways), Dubai (Emirates), Abu Dhabi (Etihad) and Istanbul (Turkish Airlines). Total travel time is usually 11–15 hours. From Helsinki, our packages continue to Lapland on the overnight Santa Claus Express train, which is part of the adventure rather than just transport.
Best Time to Visit Finland From India
For the Northern Lights, snow activities and a white Christmas, travel between December and March — the most popular window for Indian families, especially over the winter holidays and February school breaks. September to October offers milder weather, autumn colours and aurora reflections over open water. June to September brings the midnight sun and suits travellers who prefer to avoid extreme cold.
A Sample 7-Day Itinerary
A typical trip: arrive in Helsinki and explore the city; take the overnight train to Lapland; visit Santa Claus Village and cross the Arctic Circle; enjoy reindeer and husky safaris and snowmobiling; hunt the Northern Lights on multiple guided evenings; relax in a Finnish sauna; and return via the night train to Helsinki for your flight home. Our packages handle every transfer, ticket and activity end to end.
Why Book With an India-Founded Finland DMC
Because we are an Indian-founded company operating directly on the ground in Lapland, our trips are built around how Indians actually travel — group departures, visa support, guidance on flights and food, and warm clothing arranged locally so you arrive worry-free. And booking directly with the operator rather than through layers of agents means honest pricing without inflated mark-ups.
